Sometime in the past six months or so, something (I presume a Chrome update) happened to my Mac Pro setup at home; ever since then, whenever I open a Google Sheets spreadsheet, it initially displays OK, then transforms into a scrambled mess:
This only happens with Sheets, in Chrome, on this computer. I can open any other Google doc without issue, and I can open Sheets in Firefox, and I can use Chrome + Sheets on my laptop.
Today, I decided to take a total stab in the dark with chrome://flags, and — I swear this is true — the FIRST thing I tried, worked. I couldn’t believe my luck. I had to DISable “Accelerated 2d canvas":
Now, everything’s fine. HOORAY! (And yes, I think some things are a hair slower rendering now, but I can live with that.)
